Remote oil filter and no cooler . . .

#1 Post by Jaime Jensen »

We decided to eliminate the oil cooler under the fan shroud when we installed the full flow filter! We've got over 20,000 hard miles (123 HP 1720 cc, many hours at 4500 RPM in 100 degree heat, Nevada). We have never seen the needle past the half way mark . . . I may be way off base here but the the only reason for an external oil cooler is for a race car or a much larger engine.

Our engine was built by Alan at The Stable in San Francisco.

Just my 2 cents,

Stan

I just had my engine rebuilt and went with the Precision Matters free flow oil filter, stock oil filter and an aluminum oil cooler. Car hasn't hit over 180 degrees even with the recent hot weather here in Southern California. BTW, it's a 912 case, reworked "C" heads and 1883 cc's.
