Rear Seat belts

#1 Post by Shawn Wilson »

I have tried every configuration I could think of to fit seat belts in the rear for my kids. (Lap Belts). I want to use the anchor in the middle and the bolts on the sides as fix points. The problem I have is the middle brackets hit the seats when they are down and potentially tear the leather.
Does any one have a good source or method to mount?

With the risk of irritating the "Originality Only" people on the list, I made my car usable for my family and drilled holes in the sides of the rear seat area and attached the rear seatbelts from an early 911 for my kids. I bolted the belts in with large fender washers on the reverse side. The mod is a little tricky as the holes come out very close to the trans so don't drill to far. It is also tricky tightening the nuts down due to an extreme lack of room for the wrench but it can be done. They work great and are as safe as one can get for a 40+ year old car. The seats fold down fine and do not contact the belts when not in use.
