Horn grills shape and size

#1 Post by Jack Biersdorff »

Folks

On my 1963 car, I recently replaced the upper horn grills with Stoddard ones. I do not know if the pair on the car are original. I believe the Stoddard are not a correct replacement.

1. From the car, the lower blade is .125 inch longer that the upper.
From Stoddard, both blades are the shorter length.

2. From the car, the rivet heads are .140 inch dia., solid and swaged in place.
From Stoddard, the rivet heads are .240 inch dia. and are pop type.

3. From the car, the pointy end on the long side of the blades are sharp.
From Stoddard, they are clipped at .093 inches X 45 degrees.

I looked at a lot of grills at the West Coast Holiday and think that the ones from the car are original size. Can anyone confirm? Who sells correct parts?

Thanks in advance
