Oil Cooler seals

#1 Post by Matt Anderson »

I have a 63 Regular. Does anybody know which seals I should get. I ask because the fuel pump I have is pre B. It seems that the body I have is a B but the motor is from an A. Any help? I sprung a leak this weekend and I can only guess it's the oil cooler seals.

Thanks
Matt

FYI These are old pics of the motor. It was very clean until this stupid leak. I guess I'll have to get out the degreaser again. Do you guys know which lines I'll need for the filter can as well? Are they the "late" or "early"?

Matt,
Go to the technical info page and type in your engine number. It should then provide you with the year of your motor. From there, you can get the correct seals.

Oil Cooler seals

#3 Post by Guest »

Matt,
There are 2 diameter of seals for the cooler and you can
use the ones that fit snugly in the hole for them in the top
off the block but loose or very tight. Generally speaking
the black ones are small and the green ones are larger but
check! You never know what has been placed in the gasket
set. The green ones come in 2 heights, 9 mm and 11 mm. The
tall one is for the "floating" 912 and this will be for
block designed for it, not an A block. The A block will use
a cooler with 6 mm studs but you can use the later cooler
with 8 mm studs if you drill out the 6 mm mounting holes in
the block.
Email me if you have any questions about what you have. All
the coolers used on the 356/912 can be made to work but some
combinations work better.
