I am a fairly new owner and have stripped my car to bare metal to repaint. The car is a '64 coupe, Light Ivory with red upholstery. My questions are:
1) My painter prefers to shoot Glasurit brand paint. Though I want to keep the car fairly true to it's kardex I prefer a color closer to the Ivory of a earlier car.
I know it's an old argument but do I really hurt the value of my car by deviating from Lt Ivory to be a little less refrigerator white?
Does anyone know a color that falls somewhere between Ivory and Light Ivory that they might recommend?
2) My upholstery is red which I'm duplicating. Did all red seated cars come with red carpets?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Paint and upholstery question
Take a look at Heron Grey. Not 'correct' for a 64 but a very attractive
color and IMHO much better than refrigerator white.

It's your car, so ultimately it's yours to paint as you wish. However, I believe the market really does impose a decreased value on a car painted with a not-correct-for-the-year color, however, so be so advised. In fact SCM (Sports Car Market) annual price guides describes a 20% (!) penalty for such, so you've really got to want a noncorrect color! FYI.

Paint and upholstery question
Mark,
A well beaten horse, indeed. Faced with a similar conundrum with my Conv.
D some years ago, I decided to paint the car for myself and not the future
owner and it ended up Grigio Alfiere (a Maserati color). As it turned out,
when it came time to sell, I think it set a new high for Conv. D's, so, go
figure.
Porsche AG is featuring the Ivory on the 2009 cars, very lovely.
