Luggage straps

#1 Post by John Lewenauer »

In one of the Registry magazines, I came across a vendor who made the two leather luggage straps for the rear area (not the outside rack) for about $79. I have since looked through a couple of back issues, but cannot seem to find who it was. Any help?

I believe the vendor you're looking for is Will at Classic & Speed Parts. He's in Arcadia, California and can be reached at 626-455-0108. I bought a pair from him, very nice quality and by far the best deal I could find. Nice guy too. BTW, he has an ad running on page 8 of the Porsche 356 Club's summer edition magazine that I just received yesterday.

Tony Singer at Spyder Enterprises also makes very nice straps. He advertises in the 356 Registry.

Got my straps from Classic and Speed Parts. VERY nice and VERY reasonable at $79 + Ship. My car is mostly original inside, so I decided to "patina" my natural color straps. The original color is just like what is pictured on the CSP site, more "raw" looking and much lighter.

Got carried away on my picture taking on this beautiful summer night, if you care to see more.

John, the car and luggage straps look great. How exactly did you "patina" them?

Truth be told, brown shoe polish! About 3 or 4 times. Good idea to wear gloves. Easy to do if you put a bolt in a vise and hook the hardware over the bolt and hold the strap while applying polish and later buffing with a rag.
