Rear axle help
Karl,
The tranny will work but to use disk brakes you will need
to use the disk brake outer ends of the swing arms, these
are pressed on. So in your case you will need to exchange
the swing arms with the disk brake one to attach the disk
brake components.

Mr. Slade:
You will have to replace the axle tubes (to gain the mounting ears on the end casting for the calipers), the hard brake lines mounted on the tubes, and the bump stops. Also note that the disc brake axle seals and the axle nut and spacer are different than the drum brake setup. And don't forget to change the master cyl. (The dual circuit unit out of a 914 works quite well.).
