Its good to have the extinguisher accesable, back in 1979 when i had my 63b coupe I decided to go to Klamath Falls, to see the falls with my ex-wife. There is no falls in
Klamath Falls I found out. So on the way south I was driving my Porsche
like I was angry at someone, like I always do, and sort of kept up with this
corvette doing about 100 mph for about 10 minutes and I liked it as much as
the coupe did. All of a sudden I had smoke pouring in from the windshield
vents. Rolling to a stop, pulling the hand brake, opening the engine lid
and pulling out the fire extinguisher all in about 5 seconds I put the fire
out as I knew by the smoke what happened, so much fuel pressure pulled the
fuel hose off the tubing to the engine right behind the engine. Cold fuel
on a hot exaust pipe. What a mess after I put the fire out. It was on a Sunday in a one store town I found a spark plug wire that replaced the melted one. I had no spare parts with me at the time. But fixed it enought to finally get home.
80 or 90 mph at the time felt like cruising speed to me.
I was just driving like I had a pair.
It felt comfortable to me. But you never know what can happen.
Always know where that fire extinguisher is located.
