LA Lit and Toy Show..

Guys,

visiting the LA Lit and Toy Show has become a tradition to me. However, this
year I wanted some more.. so I decided to leave a week early, and start a
tour in Las Vegas.
I arrive on Friday evening in Las Vegas.. I'll stay in Vegas till monday
morning. Then I think about driving to San Diego and afterwards from San
Diego up North to Los Angeles.

Now I was wondering if there was some Porsche , race or vintage car related
to do in the period from February 27 till the Lit Show weekend.

Any good museums to be visited ? Private collections that can be admired ?

All information very welcome.

You might want to check out the Palm Springs Desert Classic. The Concours d’Élégance will be Sunday 28 February 2010.

It's not Porsche specific and I personally don't know too much about it but it appears to be a significant event. It is listed on the Porsche 356 Club calendar page so there are some Southern California 356 guys who think it's worthwhile.

You might have a look at Shelby automobiles in Las Vegas. They may have a small museum, including the first Cobra, still owned by Shelby hisself. There's also a great aircraft museum and restoration facility in Chino, Calif.

Make sure you stop by my tables and say Hello at the swap meet. I'm usually back in the far left-hand corner next to Tony Singer, both of us with posters on the wall.

I understand this show is a good place to find original Sonauto decklid emblems. I'm in search of an original, with both pins in potmetal. I have the reproduction version but would prefer the 'real deal', as I'm sure most here understand. My car is a '62 S-90 coupe that came through the French distributor to an American diplomat. The version I require has the '22, Rue Paul-Valéry - Paris address. (I have the original engine shroud placard.)

I can't make the show but would be grateful - and generous - if someone would be willing to take up my cause. I know it won't be cheap. Please PM if willing and able.

Try the Nethercutt Museum in the San Fernando Valley north of the Literature Meet site.

Note that one part of the collection is free and easily worth the visit. The most expensive cars are on the tour which requires a reservation. Great museum in an older part of town.

In past years there have been shows in the area and one that we have attended is a VW bus show that was in the area. Great restorations and some wild rides.

In addition to the Nethercutt and Peterson Museums, you should check out Art Center in Pasadena on the 4th...they will have a student car design presentation.
