Hi,
My question is about cleaning inside the engine case, front cover and rocker stands, etc. I got some responses to a similar question that was buried in a previous post. Now I'd like to revisit this subject. I tried solvent, simple green and patience (thanks Ron). But still not clean enough for me, especially in the small nooks and crannies. Any comments about carburetor cleaner or other nasty solvents/stain removers?
Someone out that must have had success with this.

Cleaning oil stains from aluminum
Rink,
I employ Harbor Freight dental tools and my anal personality for old Permatex and heavy stains/crust found on most old cases. Also, purchased some aluminum cleaner from ENCO which does work well on some staining. Also, some success with a dishwasher and setting the water temperature very high. Dishwasher soap is very effective on stains.

Cleaning oil stains from aluminum
I bought a $40.00 used dishwasher ...works like a champ on most all ugly parts.
