aiming headlights on 356 c

#1 Post by William Trowbridge »

I am having trouble aiming the headlights on my 356 c. The screws are at about 2:00 and 7:00 o'clock. I screw in one and it does not to have any affect on the direction of the beam. What am I doing wrong? Do I have unscrew one while turning in the other? William

I'm not sure you're doing anything wrong. I've had the same damn problem with headlights not moving when I turn the screws. The headlights just seem to stick...

If there is a cure I would love to hear it.

You might have turned one so far as to jump out of the adjuster. Easy to
see just remove the light assy. and take a look. One screw does up and
down and the other is left and right. Check to see if the plastic pivot
inside on the assy is still there.

Where the screw passes thru the chrome ring there is a fiber collar between the backside of the chrome ring and a stationary washer crimped onto the screw. On my rings some of these collars disintegrated thereby leaving nearly 1/4 inch slop at the slotted screw head. A nylon tie of the correct width can replace the collar which will then re-esablish positive movement between the screw and the light housing.
