Re: speedocable
Helge, the speedometer cable goes from the right front wheel to the dash instrument. No oil is involved, and no connection to the engine is involved.
What do you mean by "lose oil"? A drip from the engine area? Having to add oil to the engine more often than is normal? Please define.

It is the cable from the third peace back at the motor - is this the tachometer cable (in german language tachmoeter is the km/h whereas I guess you have rpm). When disconnected do I loose oil? Is it difficult to change thise cable? And yes, it is more a drip than that I have to refill often.
maybe it is now a little bit more clear?!
cheers

Yes, the cable from the motor is the tachometer cable. I changed mine a while back and no oil came out when I disconnected the old one. You might want to be prepared to catch a few drips when you work on the car but I really doubt you'll lose significant oil--certainly if the engine's not running.
I do recall some confusion on speedpmeter vs. tachometer cable names in a Porsche factory shop manual, but I think that's the early 911 manual that calls the speedometer cable (to the transmission in an early 911) a tachometer cable.
The German units for the tachometer are UPM which I think translates as Umdrehen Pro Minute.

Speedo cable no oil but if you talking about the tach cable there
might be a small amount of oil there from the drive but just a few drops.

Helge - I do not understand your comment that on Tachometer in German it is Km/h and for USA it is RPM? In my German that is not so - the Tachometer measures umdreung per minute (UPM) where in English it is Revolution per Minute(RPM). The Km/h is for the Speedometer which in German measure kilometer per stunde and in English we measure Miles per Hour.
The Speedometer runs of the left front wheel and the Tachometer runs from the engine/transaxle. If you are leaking oil from that area of the tach connection you will even lose more if you disconnect it at that location. Have tried to see if it is actually tight?

Tachometer in German named "Tacho" = "Stundenkilometerzähler" is where you measure speed with, so km/h or miles/hour
The "Drehzahlmesser" (which is tachometer in english) measures the rpm or U/min.
What i wanted to know:
Do I understand right, that it is an open connection to the motoroil circuit? SO, if I delete the tachometer cable from the third peace and do not plug it or place a cable back I will loose all my oil while driving the car or running the motor?
thanks for all comments ....
