356C - question on assembly order for doors ...

#1 Post by Jack Roberta »

I need some info on the order for assembling the doors. I already have the door lock & door handles on. Also would it be easier to mount the rubber moulding & trim pieces with the frames on the car or off? Should the glass & winder mech. go in first? Any tricks?

Thanks
Jack

Jack,

Here is how my friends and I did my cab doors, IIRC.

Since your door handles and latches are already on, next install your furry weatherstrip as that will not go in with the glass in the door. Then install the chrome door top trim and the plastic profile that goes under it. Then install your regulator and glass, then the frame, along with its plastic profile.

This is a simplified order and much ancillary work goes into each step, with much trial and error and adjusting. Others may have different steps, so if someone have a better order of doing things, please chime in.

Much like parenting, follow these simple steps and you'll figure the rest out.

Hope this helps,
