license plate restoration

#1 Post by Mike Wilson »

I recently acquired a black/yellow California license plate ending in "356" and would to restore it. It'll be for display only.

Can anyone steer me to a good restorer? I have some old information but need an up to date source. I know there were a couple in California and a few others in other states.

Thanks in advance.

This guy is great. There is a bit of a wait (expect 3-6 months), but he is worth it. Mine was bent restored and rusty, and he made it look NOS.

license plate restoration

I have used Dan Landino at 37037 E.Almont, Sterling Hts Mi.
38310. Phone 586 268-8692. Its been a couple of years so I suggest
calling to assure he is still restoring plates. His price was good and
very fast service. Much faster than 3-6 months and his 'answering'
service is a bit more polite.
He restored a pair of 1930 Ky plates that had been nailed to a
barn wall and were in very bad shape. If he can fix those, he can fix
everything but a broken heart.

Probably going to take some shots for this...but I LIKE old vintage plates with the age and patina showing AND new looking vintage plates....

So what I do is keep the old bent up ones and have them duplicated....not an issue in any State if you simply use them for display. However, many states will accept remanufactured plates if they are accompanied by the original and the number combination is not assigned to any other vehicle in their database.

$75 bucks per plate and they deliver inside of two weeks.

I think I used Darryl's some time ago and yes, it was quite a wait but excellent work. Thanks for the information on Dan Landino. He still comes up when you Goggle "license plate restoration."
