front number plate

#1 Post by Michael Eker »

I have just taken delivery of two new number plates.

Where is the best/correct place to stick the front one on a "C"

I remember a post which said that the front bumper on later cars was in fact an

aerodynamic wing to create down force at speed.

If this is true what difference will it make putting the number above or below the "wing".

I show below two photos of Gmund cars which seem to indicate that Dr Porche wasn't sure

where to put the number on the early "wingless" cars.

Since the front bumper is symmetrical in its contours it would be useless at providing 'downforce' and is simply a design feature of the car. I have seen number plates attached above, below and in the middle of the bumper although the factory temporary oval plates were attached in the middle. Whatever looks best to you would be my advice. If mounted low and forward, it can serve as a 'curb feeler' to save the bottoms of your bumper guards, just make sure you use some sort of flexible mounting system.

Joel
