Looking for engine or case, 83186, a January 1959 Super motor. Would also be interested in 83166, because the Kardex seems to have an 8 typed over the first 6.

Re: Post Your For Sale/WTB Engine and Trans Numbers Here
This thread seems silly. Who is going to go through 44 pages of posts to hook up with their long lost engine or trans? This needs to be organized. A modified database that used the engine or trans number as a single point of reference which then lists an owner or seller or buyer tied to that single number would fix the problem. If you have a non-original engine in your car you could submit it as "owner" and maybe somebody would offer you enough to persuade you to sell or trade. You could submit a number as "seller" so that perspective buyers could make contact with the seller. You could submit your original number as a "buyer" and when the engine is about to be placed on the list by a seller they can contact you first.
The two lists, engine and transmission, should be visible to anybody in the club but the data input should be done by only one or two responsible people. Dates of the submissions should be listed. Members should act in a responsible manner and report all sales activities to lessen dead ends. It would be nice to see a data point that indicates when it was reunited to it's original car and what car that is.
I bet we could greatly improve the success rate of the intention of this silly thread.

Re: Post Your For Sale/WTB Engine and Trans Numbers Here
CJ, last year an owner of a '55 Continental found the original engine case for his car from this thread. I had listed it, as it had been in my possession for 36 years. The car and motor got separated in Wisconsin, and the engine case eventually made its way to Scotland to be reunited with the car.
So this thread does work. Instead of lots of effort by moderators curating and updating a list, this allows free-form listing of engine numbers, and a simple Google search like the following:
brings up my listing of this engine as the 1st and 2nd hit. So it can work pretty well.
Perhaps we should formalize the google search of the site via a link somewhere prominent? Google is almost always better at searching websites than any internally-built search function on a given website.
