Just installed LED (CU Layer) 6 v tailights

#1 Post by Tom Coughlin »

The installation took about as long as changing a bulb (well OK, a little longer because you have to get the gasket over the circuit board). I took some pictures, daylight, in garage with the headlights on. You can hardly tell the lights are on with the original bulbs. Replaced one, took picture and YES you can really see the difference. After second in, took picture and both lights are very visible.
I have no ax to grind here other than a satisfied customer who now has to run out to the garage to turn off the headlights. KTF, Tom

Yes I know you want me to post pics but they're the same as you've seen before. Use your imagination (that means you Bob).

Their service is terrific. Jim Franzen goes way above and beyond to satisfy his customers and should be commended.

Thr LED's would not work on my Stoddard repro taillight housings so he asked me to ship them back so he could install a ground wire. He turned it around in less than a week. We gave it the ol' college try but it still did not work, so he refunded my money promptly (I am now looking for an ultra nice set of original taillight housings now so I can re-order the LED's).

Even though they did not work for me at this time, I am a huge fan of the product and his service.

Just installed LED (CU Layer) 6 v tailights

#3 Post by Dave Brenny »

I have had mine in for the last month or so and had Julie follow me for
300+ miles out to the hillclimb and back. She reported that they are far
better than the original lights (they don't call it candlepower for no
reason) but there still were situations where the direct sunlight
reduced her ability to quickly see that I was stopping or signaling a
turn. Some of it has to do with the low position of the lights in the
first place (now considering a high mounted brake light)and perhaps the
LED system could be improved by more directionally mounted LEDs,
however, I have discussed this with Jim and that would be difficult and
costly to achieve. So the CU Layer system is definitely the best system
so far and I applaud Jim for the diligence to produce such a niche
market device in the first place, with darn fine quality and customer
support to boot.

I just recently installed the CU Layer LED tail lights on my '65 SC Cab and they are BRIIGHT!

I do feel safer at night and at stop signs now.

Great product and great support from Jim.

He is truly helping to make it easier for all of us to Keep the Faith.

What is the original contact info for "Jim"? I would like to replace the tail lights on all three of my 356 Coupes, with new 6 volt LED's.

Ginger, here's the website address: http://culayer.com/356.htm

They are excellent taillights. I have them on my 59 A coupe.
