[quote="Ashley PageWould it be to much to ask of you to post a picture of the clamp on the hose?
Thanks very much.[/quote]

Here's a shot of the hose in the tunnel with two clamps on it. At the top of the photo is the short steel line coming from near the fuel cock. The steel line at the bottom runs to the back end of the tunnel.

I didn't think you were ever going to get around to posting that picture.
:D

While I was waiting I found that clamp on the Wurth site here
http://www.wurthusa.com/project/en/left ... 7.0179.jpg
That is a good looking installation you have. I am going to use the same clamps and hose.

Thanks

Where did you find those clamps? I know Wurth has them, but Wurth doesn't seem too interested in selling stuff.
Thanks,

I've purchased bolt type hose clamps from McMaster Carr.

Go to www.mcmaster.com and look on page 251 of the catalog.

I bought a large bag of them when I was restoring a 914 a number of years ago from "the ultimate garage".

How do I get the floor board out of the car without breaking it? Its about 1/8" shy of getting over the tab in the bottom of the floor. Thanks!

Did you take the accelerator pedal and the stop out?

Yes, accelerator pedal and stop are out. Board slides up, but not far enough to clear the tab on the floor.

Tough one to diagnose without seeing. It went in, so it's gotta come out! I guess you could remove some board material (wood) from whatever area is limiting more upward movement so you can clear the tab. Unfortunately, on my car someone bent the tab somewhat rearward so while still not easy, I can get it out. I made the hole for the accelerator stop look like a keyhole so I can leave it in and slide the board up, then down. Are the slots for the brake/clutch pedals deep enough?

Toe Board Removal

#25 Post by Tom Farnam »

John, it's been a while since my last trip through this, but my recollection is that if you depress the brake/clutch pedals you can get just enough more up & back motion of the toe board to clear the bottom rail. Hard to describe any better, it's one of those things that once you have done it . . .

Okay, thats got it. Pushing up at the top while pulling at the bottom and it finally popped out. It probably didn't help that the ply has separated at the bottom a little, made it a little thicker.

Now I can see the fuel line in the tunnel, first thing to change tomorrow.

Glad I'm not the only one up this late....

Toe Board Removal

#28 Post by Tom Farnam »

Tee hee - we can see the smile of relief from here. :)

The plies are separated in nearly all the toe boards I've seen. But you really won't need to take it in and out very often, or even if you do it's not hard to replace the plywood, so don't worry about it.

Actually, you could do me a small favor. If you have a few minutes before you put that board back in, due a good careful full size tracing of it? Then share same (or a full dimension copy) with me? I'd like to create a replacement pattern.

Replacing Fuel Hoses

#29 Post by Gerry McCarthy »

All cars with the fuel cock under the car (T6+c) have a short length of rubber INSIDE THE TUNNEL, often missed on your type of project. The pump to carb to carb pipe also has 2 short rubber sections crimped on.

Todays victim, a 3" section of fuel hose.

Image

I either needed smaller hands or long right angle tools, I had neither, so pretty much had to work one handed, on my stomach, half in the dark....but I got it changed.

This little guy is a bear to reach too.

Changed 2 small sections in the engine.
