NOS VW Parts -For 356s too? If so what are they worth?

#1 Post by Harry Hoffman »

Hello,

sorry if this should be in the classifieds section - I am toying with the idea of selling these parts, however I am not even sure if i know what I have, and want to consult your expertese 1st before i decide to hold on or sell them. a) are they for vw only or 356s? and b) what is the going rate for these NOS items?

My dad was the 3rd shift warehouse manager at the VW Parts warehouse (midvo i think it was called) in Dublin, Ohio. He was a VW nut, and always was working on projects, and restorations and had a stash of parst he bought from work. 25 years later, we are still finding parts in boxes in the basement.

can anyone tell me if these are/were used for 356s? If so what are they worth?

1st i have a set of NOS OEM SWF wiper blades. these are 12" long, nos, a little dirty, some very minor shelf ware from laying around in a box of vw parts. I tought they might be for pre 67 912s (i have a 68 so they wouldnt be correct for my car), but they are too short for the 912/911. Were these on 356s? are they worth anything? I have 3 wiper blades (1 pair and an extra)

they have the SWF logo and Germany on the arms. (sorry hard to see in picture)

i am going to put these in seperate posts to keep it organized..

2nd i have another set of wiper blades, this time NOS pair of Bosch wiper blades, in the box. I know these are for a 356B (the box says for Porsche 356B (->9.1) and VW Typ 1 (8.64/7.67), bosch part number 3 398 110 422. Are these NLA or still available? would these be an item concourse people would be interested in, or are these common and easy to find? I have no idea what these would be worth or if they are NLA or not. Any one know how desirable they are or a value or what i should start bidding for them on ebay would be?

3rd, well im not sure if i know what i have or not. The are NOS Hella back up or fog lights. My dad says they are back up lights for a VW, but the instructions say they could also be used for fog lights as well. they are NOS, new in the box, never been played with. come with wiring, switches etc. they come one to a box, and i have two boxes. the part number is 000 053 101. the instructions say: 'instructions for mounting fog lamps 128 znx-4-180 CC or 128znx-4-cc on vw 1200. instructions for mounting fog lamps 128 znx-4 cc on karmann ghia 1200 instructions for mounting reversing lamp 92 zr with speedometer switch 71/21-5 on vw 1200 and karman ghia 1200'. they look almost like hella fog lights for swb cars, but might not be wide enough. do you have any idea what these are used for or if they have Porsche use or value? I am attaching pics of one (they come one light/wiring/switch per kit/box), but i have a second light kit just like it.. let me know your thoughts on these. They look kind of like 356 back up lights or fog lights, but im not sure if they are correct for any 356 models.

Harry, They look like back up lights for a VW van. The black switch is
mounted on the speedometer cable and when the VW is going backward it
actuates the switch.

The wiper blades will work on a 356 but they are later replacements, not NOS - meaning they are not quite the same as what was delivered when the car was new so no concours guys are going to pay big money. The lights are VW bug back up lights and never came on a 356 even as an accessory. Similar looking driving lights were offered on 356 A models with front overrider bars but they were Bosch, not Hella.

If you're going to do ebay then just put them on ebay and let the auction process work. Sorry, you don't have a 356 NOS gold mine.

Harry,

These are VW and other German car backup lights which were standard on the 67 VW bug.
Put them on www.thesamba.com for a hundred or best offer.

When originally sold as an optional back-up light, only one light was mounted on a car as shown in the illustration. You could have always bought a second but then you'd be throwing away a switch (or two if you used them as fog lights). I'd market them individually as back-up lights and not fog lights or as a pair. You'd get more interest that way. Hey, I might be interested in one (or both) of 'em myself...
