Muffler on a Pre-A

#1 Post by Stephen Hoskins »

I just fired my Pre A up for the first since I had it. Its been 8 yrs. It came in many boxes and the question I have, Is the muffler correct with one pipe and the pipe conflicts with the rear valance of the car. It seems like the muffler is too high in the car. Can the transmission be raised in the front so that the muffler will be lower in the rear or do I have the wrong muffler?

pending the year of your car you may have the wrong muffler. the early cars 50-54 had a cut out in the rear . and the single pipes fit well and look correct. late 54-55 did not have the cut out. the two pipe sport muffler fits well. That is is what I am using on my 55 cab I have a frend with a late 54 w/out the rear cut out he bought the single pipe. it did not fit he actuall cut and repositioned the tail pipe. here is a pic with the sport muffler on my car. its a little dark. but with out the cout out its close.
