Use Trevor's link to the previous discussion -- there's more to it than just oversized pins. For dimensions, check chassis drawing pages in the Workshop Manual, section C and C-C.

Hello all
Resurrecting an old thread because I have a drivers door that drops just a bit. Everything is of course painted already so there’s not a lot of reworking that I can do.
Have there been any new developments in replacement hinge pins?

Nice work Trevor !
I’m currently building a set of GT aluminum doors and transferring hinges over. Do you have a cad drawing of your upper drill fixture you wouldn’t mind sharing? Looks like it does the trick.

Reasonably priced 8.1 mm oversize hinge pins are available from a German vendor:

Standard size available from Sierra Madre, etc.

Registry Magazine archive hinge pin repair articles: Vol. 22 No. 1 pg. 26 and Vol. 14 No. 5 pg. 33

Maryland metric has the pins, standard and oversized. They also sell the reamer to clear out the hinge,
also get some flush grease fitting nipples and lube them like the maintenance schedule calls for.

The oversized pins sound promising (no need for bushings); however the critical part is getting the bores parallel.

Hey Rafael!

I don’t have a CAD drawing, sorry. If you want to cover the shipping costs to and from, I’ll loan you my tool for free (you’re welcome to copy it once you have it) but... you have to promise to ship it back to me. How can I say no to you, you’re on the home team!
