The correct situation is to contact North Hollywood Speedometer and find out what sending you should use. Install it and that should rectify your temp issue. al

No, Greg;

I think not for a 356. Threads look different, the temp range(?) isn't correct, and the tube is too short for exposure to the oil. It's measurement should be checked w/a meter--there's a different temp. range to
match the early or late existing gage.

I think that is a hi temp switch not a thermometer gauge sender. I cannot quite make out the VDO part # but if you can, go and Google it and VDO should tell you.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.
