Help with Installing New Turn Signal Relay 6V Tronic Flash
Hey All,
My mechanic advised me to purchase and install a new 6V Turn Signal Relay to make my signals a bit more brighter and noticeable: part number from Stoddard is NLA-613-342-01 for my '64 C Coupe.
The Relay also came with what looks like a grounding wire and a silver mounting bracket that slides into the relay.
I understand that it's located behind the tach, but there's a mess of wires back there and I can't seem to find it. Any suggestions on how to install this relay? And do I need to disconnect the battery beforehand?
Thanks!
Nate

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=36742&hilit=turn+signal+relay See Stan Yarrish's photos in this link. It is located above and just to the right of your E Brake handle. Just inboard of the hood hinge pocket. It works very well with Cu Layer LED taillights.

Re: Help with Installing New Turn Signal Relay 6V Tronic Fla
I have posted in the Stan Yarrish article examining the conditions that this situation may occur. Sometimes there will be a manifestation through the tachometer (electrical and mechanical) that will give a clue to correct the situation. I think these situations occurred as the wiring was installed at the factory or when a new wiring loom was installed in the car. Re: Help with Installing New Turn Signal Relay 6V Tronic Fla
here is a picture of the location that worked for me.
The brown wire / ground is attached via the sheet metal screw that holds the bracket / flasher in place.
I did have the same problem as you with the brakes, when i traced it back, it was my turn signal switch that has become broken during the restoration..
so I fixed the turn signal switch and it worked fine after that..

he has found it under his dash, but not sure it is operable ??
question = is this a flasher relay ?

Definitely looks like an older flasher relay. Screw terminals?

Re: Help with Installing New Turn Signal Relay 6V Tronic Fla
When I installed my LED turn indicators/flashers, I ordered a 6V electronic flasher unit from my local motor bike supplies shop. For less than $30 I got a 2/3 pin, -ve earth unit that plugs straight into the socket for the original thermo unit. Works perfectly.

Crazy.. Porsche actually has what looks like a very nice 6 Volt flasher !!
I would not think compatible with LED, but it does come with t=what looks like the same base as I had before I converted to the newer style.
